The Elexis Brown Golf Foundation

AMBASSADORS

Our wonderful ambassadors!

Megan Grimwood:

HI, I am Megan and i am a 15 year old, i started playing golf 6 years before joining the county and meeting my best friend Elexis.

Five years ago, my brother started to have some golfing lessons and eventually i got on board and started playing myself with a 5 iron. Overtime, i got a few second hand clubs and started to improve, before joining the county at the beginning of 2018.

At a coaching session, i started talking to Elexis and then later that afternoon, Ben invited us to a Sunday session at the Leicestershire Golf club.

Ever since that day, Elexis and i became best friends and we did everything together.

In the 2nd season, i won a few different trophies for the county and for my home club of Kirby Muxloe and Melton Mowbary.

I hope to lower my handicap and play for my club and county teams in 2023/24 season.

Eva-Grace:

Eva-Grace is a 12 year old junior golfer, who in 2019 aged 9 Eva had a holiday in Cornwall overlooking the #pitchandputt golf course, she played a couple of rounds of #crazygolf with her dad and decided she wanted to have a go properly. That same  year armed with a cheap set of #juniorgolfclubs her dad popped her up to the #golfrange @pytchleygolflodge for a swing about. She proved to be a little natural, could hold the clubs correctly and had a lovely technique. She then visited the @AIGwomensopen at the beginning of August and had a lesson with a pro who said she showed real potential. The second holiday that year to Cornwall was for her tenth birthday and she spent hours on the pitch and putt with her dad and found she really enjoyed it. She continued to practice on the range sporadically, before covid lockdowns occurred. During the lockdown she found golf was really for her, with #golfranges and #golfcourses still open she was able to practice a lot before having her first actual golf lesson as part of Kettering golf club in October 2020. She continued having lessons with the academy and joined up with @TheShiresJuniorgolftour Bronze handicap division at the beginning of 2021, this saw her qualify in the top three of her division for the summer series and win her place to play @trumpturnburyscotland. She again played the winter section of the tour through 2021/22 and won the order of merit for the season. She had also branched out by this time joining @NorthamptonGolfClub and being coached by @paulhodgkiss_golf. Throughout 2022 she has played in Northants County golf matches, won numerous events at Northampton and won the order of merit for the summer series with @theshiresjuniorgolftour where she won a opportunity to play with LPGA and LET player @charleyhull.

Eva-Grace would love to become a female pro in later life. She is home educated as she found she was dyslexic with a slower working memory, currently she is working on GCSE maths, English and Business studies which she will sit early next year aged 13 and she wants to take Science (but not biology ), psychology, law and marine science in the following years. She does her work with online classes during the morning before golf most afternoons…she does also state she isn’t a fair weather only golfer!

Eva and Elexis followed each others progress on their #socialmediaplatforms and she along with everyone was heartbroken when Elexis passed away. We are honoured to have her as part of the foundation as our Ambassador, she will be doing lots with us over the coming year. Please say a very warm welcome and follow her on @evagrace_girljuniorgolfer Instagram!

Lucy Hurst:

Lucy Hirst is a 12 year old golfer from mid Wales.

Lucy has been playing golf for two and half years having picked up her brothers clubs at the end of lockdown.

Golf was not going to be Lucy's sport as she was a very keen gymnast but she was hooked on her first golf shot.

Lucy loves golf and has made some amazing friends during her golfing adventures around the UK.

Lucy regularly competes in the Wales Golf Junior Ping tour and won the U12 order of merit in 2023. Lucy also played in the Wales Mini Masters and qualified for the grand final at Machynys Golf Club and the wee wonders, qualifying for an amazing golfing adventure at Gullane Golf Club, Scotland.

In 2024, Lucy will be one of Wales representatives at the prestigious US Kids European Championship in Scotland.

Lucy also proudly represents her country in the Wales Golf U18 Girls Inter Counties Championship. In 2023, Lucy also hosted a Girls Golf funding from Wales Golf, held a Golf and Nails day at her club and her hard work paid off as she introduced 23 girls to the wonderful game of golf and added a bit of pizzazz to the day with a nail bar.

Away from golf, Lucy is also a competitive Cheerleader and represents her local team all around the United Kingdom in the UK cheerleading Association.

Lucy's aim is to help show that golf can be inclusive for everyone and that it doesn't have to be an expensive sport and it can help bring people together to enjoy the outdoors whilst making new friends and having fun.

Lucy aspires to become a teaching professional where she hopes to inspire juniors for them to see that the stereotypes are wrong and that actually, golf is for everyone.
